Portrait of Eva Rrederick, 1931 - by Frida Kahlo
Frida is known to painted lots of portraits for her friends and acquaintances while she was staying in San Francisco from November 1930 - June 1931 and this painting is one of them. Although some people insist the subject of this painting is just an acquaintance and nobody knows more about her. Others were saying that her name was Eva Frederick and a professional black model. They also stated she posed for Rivera and other artists in Mexico.
The note at the top of the painting states: "Picture of Eva Frederick, born in New York, painted by Frieda Kahlo".
Amid that year, Frida also drew a naked pencil sketch of Eva Frederick.
